Duvet Wars!

Friday, November 23rd, 2012

At Sleeping Bag Suits we get asked all sorts of questions and, the majority of the time, we can supply the solution.

However, one woman came to us, looking for help in the bedroom. After we’d got rid of the blushes we found out she was in a ‘duvet war’ with her husband.

The lady, she’s called Kate, hates the cold nights and prefers a thick warm duvet to snuggle under. Kate’s husband, like most men, generates heat when sleeping (it’s something to do with muscle mass) and is constantly seeking out the cold side of the pillow and the last thing he needs is a heavy duvet to sleep under.

The First Mobile Sleeping Bag

Friday, August 31st, 2012

Innovation is a glorious thing. It’s one of mankinds greatest feats that we strive to make things better instead of just opting for the status quo (no, I don’t mean those long haired rockers from the 80′s).

Think gramophones to MP3 players… Or steam powered trains to electric powered bullet trains which can reach incredible speeds of over 300mph… It’s not just engineering innovations which we’re good at either.

Back in 1947, the US Army were rather pleased with themselves when they introduced the First Mobile Sleeping Bag (see picture below). It promised its wearer that they’d be able to spring into action ready to face the enemy without having to fight their way out of a conventional sleeping bag first.

Ten Of The Weirdest Tents Ever!

Thursday, April 19th, 2012

The world is indeed a strange place sometimes and as they say “it takes all sorts…” Which is probably just as well, because it’d be a pretty dull place if we all thought and acted the same way.

Of-course, not everything makes it onto the shelves for the mass public to buy and some ideas are just downright weird, it makes you wonder what they were thinking when they came up with the concept…

The bold tent is no stranger to redesign and innovation, some concepts are brilliant and some are, well, weird… You decide which is which in our list of Ten Of The Weirdest Tents Ever!

Tips To Keep Your Heating Bills Down

Wednesday, February 8th, 2012

I grew up in a period of strikes, rising unemployment and everybody was mainly skint. Not that much different really to what folk are experiencing just now. But to be honest, things have changed a lot. Back ‘when I was a lad‘ my first job in the morning was to get quickly dressed, get downstairs and clean out the ashes from the fireplace, in order to get the fire started and quickly burning… It was an important task. Without it, there was no hot water, no heating anywhere in the house and, more importantly, no pocket money for me come the weekend if I flunked my fire-starting duties.

5 Cool Sleeping Bags

Monday, December 19th, 2011

Sleeping Bags come in all shapes and sizes and they’ve come along way since the days when they were no more than just a blanket with an attached zip and cords. Since then we’ve used sleeping bags in the most inhospitable environments, to keep ourselves warm and cosy. They’ve been used by deep underwater submariners, Artic and Antarctic explorers and even our astronauts as they venture out into the last frontier – space!

Of-course, for the majority of us, we’ll use our sleeping bags in more practical environments such as going camping trips, fishing weekends, music festivals and even just for sleepovers.
